RCS Connects

What is RCS Connects?

If we cannot be together physically we can still join one another and be connected through RCS Connects!  RCS Connects is a group service offered Monday-Friday beginning at 9 a.m. and going until 3:15 p.m. using a secure online platform called Webex.  It offers the flexibility for you to choose which days you would like to join each week, provided you don’t exceed the number of days agreed upon with your funder.  RCS Connects provides the flexibility for you to join whenever it works for you and for as long or as little as you would like each day.

What are people saying about RCS Connects?

Looking forward to each new day!

Karen really looks forward to RCS Connects each day. After each session, she always likes to tell me what “we talked about.” She hasn’t missed many by choice (she missed some due to doctor appointments).

If she did not have this to look forward to each day, she would be very bored and probably do a lot of TV watching. She was doing puzzles and coloring before RCS Connects but she was getting tired of doing that.

She enjoys it when Connie pops in. She says “I got to see my case manager today.”

I think Karen feels better about the situation knowing that all the participants/her friends are at home and not able to go to RCS either. Only some of the staff.

I think this is a great thing that RCS put together for the participants. I mentioned it to some family/friends and most of them say “that’s awesome.”

Keep up the good work!

RCS Connects provides structure

Jeff has always been a creature of habit. When RCS was forced to close due to the COVID-19 pandemic Jeff’s routine was totally changed.  His daily routine consisted of watching YouTube videos, watching TV, or playing video games.  The RCS Connects daily programming has given Jeff structure in his day and something to look forward to.  He enjoys the programs offered each day and seeing his friends from RCS puts a big smile on his face.

As parents, we are very impressed with the effort the staff puts into each program to make it educational, interesting, and enjoyable for every participant.

Thinking “Outside the Box”

I just wanted to say how much we appreciate the efforts of the staff at RCS in developing these virtual classes using Cisco WebEx Meetings. Tyler looks forward to seeing his friends and classmates that he saw every day at RCS, now on his computer. He is more focused after participating in virtual classes and with the safer at home order being extended, RCS has Empowered him to get through this with their awesome will to think “outside the box”. He looks forward to class discussions and exercises as well as interactive activities. We appreciate all your efforts in getting this type of communication and classroom started for those individuals who attend RCS Empowers.

Comfort during uncertain times

What RCS remote services means to Shelley:

This is a very scary and uncertain time and for Shelley to have the opportunity to engage with friends and staff, at RCS, is calming and comforting. As Shelley’s sister, it is wonderful to see the smile on her face when her friends join the remote service. Asking Shelley why the service is important to her…”I learn a lot every day and it is fun!!” I have always appreciated RCS programs and staff, but never more than I do right now.

Thank you,
Penny MacLaughlin

Continuing education and fun!

This program shows that the clients have not been forgotten and that the RCS Staff cares for each and every one of them.

It’s wonderful that friends and staff can still interact with one another.  This is a marvelous opportunity for clients to continue their education, while still having some fun.  The daily routine also helps pass the time.

I sent the schedule to a friend of mine and here is what she had to say:
Thank You for sending this.  Wow!  What a wonderful schedule and a million KUDOS and GOLD STARS for RCS Connects. Each day offers a new learning experience from animals to art.  They are amazing.  Going to be a great fun week.  You will be busy gathering all that Adam needs for each day.

As a parent, I’ve enjoyed watching Adam’s participation and hearing his laughter.  He’s always eager to start the day with his RCS Family!!!
